Arboretum Wespelaar 2

On 13 November we want for the last visit to the Arboretum this year. There's a winter stop now.

First we had lunch at De Maritime.

Then we hopped on our bikes again and enjoyed a lovely stroll amongst the trees.

This is one of our favourite captures of the day.

Imagine yourself on that bench there.

Arboretum Wespelaar

After our walk through the Haachts Broek nature reserve 2 weekends ago, we went and got ourselves a subscription for the Wespelaar Arboretum.

This is a gigantic Arboretum garden, started by Philippe de Spoelberch from the (rather) famous and very rich de Spoelberch family (who own a significant part of the Inbev beer empire).

The light was magic and we enjoyed ourselves tremendously.

Arboretum Wespelaar

The arboretum houses many very rare trees. There are even species not found in the wild anymore. The fall colours were wonderful.

Haachts Broek

With the marvellous fall weather we're having lately, long nature walks are so invigorating. Last weekend, we went for a long walk through the nature reserve 'Haachts Broek' and we certainly weren't disappointed.

Still cool

In one of the meadows inside the reserve, we found some company.

A day trip to Antwerp

End of July, on one of the last days of our summer vacation, we went on a day trip to Antwerp.
We went by train as you can buy a combo ticket with access to the Antwerp Zoo.

Off to Antwerp

Greeted by the penguins

We focused on new additions such as the renewed aquarium and the Grand Caffee ;-)

After the Zoo we went to have cocktail at Jones & Co before having some fine Italian food at Da Giovanni.

BBQ with friends

We recently had a nice BBQ with some friends. It lasted until way into the night and we ignited a wood fire to try and keep the mosquitos away.
As I'm reading a book on black & white photography by David J. Nightingale, I decided to convert the people shots.

Swatch publicity portrait

Latest assignment was a fake publicity portrait for a Swatch summer campaign.

Model was the lovely Caro V. She's only 15 but can model like a pro.
MUA Ellen Langendries did a terrific job with make up and hair.

Spring time blooming

Can't deny it's spring time.
We've been enjoying long walks in the neighbourhood and there's an abundance of flowers everywhere.

Our oaks in the garden keep very pleasant company. Apparently forget-me-nots love the acidic soil created by the oak leaves.

Brussels Palace of Justice

A visit to the Brussels Palace of Justice Saturday morning resulted in some nice shots.
It's an imposing building and the interior takes you back to Egyptian, Greek and Roman history.

Don't you love those weekends?

We've had some really nice weather over the weekends lately.
Tania and I have been making long walks through the neighbourhood, scouting nice landscapes.

Of course, we also went and had some good food and drink at our favourite restaurant of the moment (Torenhoeve, in Rotselaar).

Easter weekend

We had exceptionally nice weather for the Easter weekend. Especially Saturday was very nice in Leuven and vicinity.

We visited the Leuven botanical garden and many flowers were already blooming.

A visit to my parents on Sunday followed.

Spring is in the air!

The early bird gets the worm ...

2 Saturdays in a row we (some colleagues from the photography course and our teacher) got up early to get some landscape shots at dawn.

I quite like the results. Fog really adds an eery atmosphere to landscape shots which appeal to me.

These were taken in Wijgmaal in a small nature reserve.

And the following were shot at 'De Haachtse Broeken'.
